News Patiala: 14th July- The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will launch its own YouTube channel on July 24 for the live broadcast of Gurbani from Sri Harmandir Sahib. The channel, which will be called “Sachkhand Sri Harimdar Sahib,” will be the sole owner of the broadcasting rights for Gurbani.
SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the decision to launch the YouTube channel was made in accordance with the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s then Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh. He said that the channel would allow Sikhs around the world to watch Gurbani live from the Golden Temple.
Dhami also clarified that the agreement with PTC, which had been broadcasting Gurbani from the Golden Temple, would not be renewed. He said that the SGPC would not give the rights to live stream or download Gurbani to any other website or web channel.
SGPC General Secretary Gurcharan Singh Grewal said that the technical studio for the YouTube channel is already being prepared. He said that the channel would also be used to share other SGPC activities with the Sikh community.
The launch of the SGPC’s YouTube channel is a significant development for the Sikh community. It will allow Sikhs around the world to watch Gurbani live from the Golden Temple, and it will also give the SGPC more control over the broadcasting of Gurbani.
