answer- After the e-FIR is disposed of, it is closed as per the legal process. There is no separate or automatic method in this, rather the same process is followed as in a normal FIR. When an e-FIR is filed and the police completes the investigation, two situations can arise.

first position

If the investigation finds the crime true and evidence is found against the accused, then the police files a charge sheet in the court. After this the case goes to the court and the e-FIR is shown in the system as ‘Investigation Complete/Pending in Court’.

second position

During investigation, if the police does not find sufficient evidence, the case is proved wrong, the complaint is withdrawn or the case of missing/theft is solved, then the police prepare a closure report in that case. This report is sent to the magistrate. The e-FIR is officially closed only after getting the approval of the court.

After getting permission from the court, the police updates the status of the e-FIR in its records and online portal, such as ‘Closed’, ‘Disposed’ or ‘Final Report Accepted.’ The complainant can check this status through the FIR number on the e-FIR portal or the police website.
