India qualifes super six u19 world cup: India registered a resounding 7-wicket victory over New Zealand in the 24th match of the U-19 World Cup 2026 on Saturday based on the Duckworth-Lewis method. With their third win in a row, Team India topped Group B.
India qualified for Super Six Group 2, where they will face Zimbabwe on January 27. Team India will then play a high-voltage match against Pakistan on February 1. New Zealand were bowled out for just 135 in 36.2 overs after losing the toss and electing to bat in a rain-affected match at the Queen’s Sports Club on Saturday.
The Kiwis lost the wicket of Hugo Bogue in 2.2 overs, at which point they had scored just 5 runs. Captain Tom Jones (2) also got out in the fifth over. The team lost their third wicket for 17 runs after 7.1 overs were played. Meanwhile, it rained. When play resumed, the match was reduced to 37-37 overs, but New Zealand’s half was bowled out for 22.
From there, Jaskaran Sandhu took control of the innings with a 62-ball 37-run partnership with Jacob Kotter. Jacob Kotter was dismissed for 23 runs off 47 balls, which included two fours. Selvin Sanjay combined with Callum Samson for 53 runs for the eighth wicket to take the team past 100. Samson remained unbeaten on 37 runs, while Sanjay contributed 28 runs.
For India, RS Ambris top-scored with four wickets for 29 runs in eight overs. Henil Patel also took three wickets. Khilan Patel, Mohammad Anan and Kanishk Chauhan took one wicket each. India was given a target of 130 runs to win based on the Duckworth-Lewis method, which Team India achieved in 13.3 overs.
India lost Aaron George for 11, who was dismissed for just 7 runs. From there, Vaibhav Suryavanshi combined with captain Ayush Mahatre to put on a 39-ball second-wicket partnership of 76 runs, bringing India closer to victory. Vaibhav was dismissed for 40 off 23 balls, which included 3 sixes and 2 fours. After that, Mahatre took charge, scoring 53 off 27 balls, which included 6 sixes and 2 fours.
The Indian team had lost 3 wickets with a score of 101. From there, Vedant Trivedi (13 not out) and Vihan Malhotra (17 not out) put on an unbroken 29-run partnership for the fourth wicket, giving India an easy win. Mason Clarke, Sandhu and Sanjay took 1 wicket each from the opposing camp.
