CHENNAI: Indian spinner Varun Chakraborty was on Thursday named as Tamil Nadu’s captain for this season’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which begins on November 26 across the country.
Varun Chakraborty recently played a key role in India’s 2-1 T20I series win against Australia on home soil, taking five wickets in three matches.
Indian batsman Narine Jagdeesan will be the vice-captain of Tamil Nadu in the country’s premier T20 tournament. Left arm spinner R. Sai Kishore and Andre Siddharth are also part of the team. India’s left-arm fast bowler T. Natarajan has also been included in the team.
Tamil Nadu, who have performed well in this season’s Ranji Trophy, have been placed in the elite Group D along with Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Tripura, Jharkhand and Saurashtra. They will begin their campaign with a match against Rajasthan in Ahmedabad.
