BCCI gives big update on Shreyas Iyer’s health, may take some time to return to India


Indian cricket team star Shreyas Iyer has been discharged from a hospital in Sydney. Iyer suffered a severe rib injury during the third ODI against Australia.

30-year-old Shreyas Iyer suffered an abdominal injury while trying to catch Alex Carey off Harshit Rana’s delivery. He was rushed to the hospital and later treated in the ICU. The BCCI released a statement on Saturday giving a major update on Shreyas Iyer’s fitness.

BCCI’s medical team, along with specialists from Sydney and India, is delighted with Shreyas Iyer’s recovery. He has been discharged from the hospital today. The BCCI clarified that the Indian batsman will stay in Sydney for the time being. Iyer will return to India once the medical team approves it.

It is worth noting that Shreyas Iyer is not part of the Indian squad for the ongoing T20I series against Australia and was expected to play in the one-day series against South Africa next month. According to media reports, Shreyas Iyer may take a long time to come back.
