New Delhi, May 6
The Supreme Court has directed the governments of Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday to cooperate with the Center to resolve the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (E Schil) Canal dispute. Justice BR Gwai and Justice Augin George Christ’s bench has notified that he has already taken effective action to solve the issue smoothly. “We guide both the states to reach the Center to reach a smooth solution to reach a smooth solution to reach a smooth solution.”
The bench said that if there was no solution, he would hear the case on 13 August. “We have tried for the mediator of the Adequate Sales General Ashwary, which presented by the Center.
The project was imagined by 214 km long canal, of which 122 km in Punjab and 92 km were 92 km in Haryana. Haryana has completed the project in his area but Punjab, which started construction work in 1982, followed it later. The dispute between the two states is running out of decades. It may be recalled that the top court ruled in favor of Haryana in a trial in Haryana in 1996 and the Punjab government directed the construction of its own part of the Schil canal. -Ptyti
