Fake Crime Branch Call defrauded a woman of Rs 1.16 lakh Know how the fraud happened


Cyber Fraud: Nowadays new ways of fraud are coming out, due to which people become easily victims of cheating. Recently, one such case came to light, in which Rs 1.16 lakh was cheated from a 45 -year -old woman. Know how this cheating happened and how you can avoid it.

How did you cheat?

A recovery agent woman from Mumbai received a call from an unknown number. The caller described himself as an officer of the Delhi Crime Branch and alleged that the woman’s name is involved in the illegal bank transaction associated with the drug. Also, he was also accused of keeping several debit cards and passports.

The fake officer asked the woman to talk to a “senior officer” and then connected her to a fake police officer on a WhatsApp video call. During the video call, the woman was sought information about the Aadhaar card, which she shared for verification. Subsequently, he was sent a fake court warrant and fake notice issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), causing it to look and look real.

Due to fear, the woman transferred a total of 1 lakh rupees in two times. The next day, the thugs again called and asked for Rs 16,000 more. When the woman tried to contact her, she stopped replying.

Measures to avoid such fraud

Beware of unknown calls – If a person calls himself a government official, do not take action immediately. First check for his veracity.

Do not share personal information – Do not give sensitive information like Aadhaar number, bank details or password to anyone on phone or video call.

Check from official sources – To check the truth of any suspicious calls or messages, contact the official website of the concerned government agency or company.

Do not send money in a hurry – Thugs usually pressurize to take a hurry. Think well before any transaction and consult reliable people.
