Amritsar Police has arrested a thief who stole money from the pocket of a person injured in an accident. The incident took place on the night of January 15 at around 9:15 p.m., when Ravi Mahajan was on his way to Realty Chowk on Albert Road. A gray Nano car hit them and fled.
The passers-by put the injured Ravi on a stretcher at the Asia Diagnostic Center. Meanwhile, the accused took advantage of the situation and stole Rs 2 lakh from the pocket of Ravi who was lying on the stretcher.
In a special operation on the instructions of Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the accused Sunil Saini alias Gori Shankar was arrested from Hertej Hospital.
The video of this incident went viral on social media, in which the accused can be clearly seen stealing. With the help of technology, the police identified the accused and arrested him.
70 thousand rupees stolen cash and an Activa have been recovered from the accused. Police are hopeful that more money can be recovered during the investigation. The accused has been produced in court and taken into police custody.
