Bollywood Movie: Harshad Nalawade’s first film ‘Follower’ is ready for release in theaters on March 21, 2025. The official selection of this film was held at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, which received a good response from the audience.
New Delhi: Belagavi is a city located in the border area of Karnataka and Maharashtra, there has been tension between both the states regarding the right to claim it. This area has also been the subject of linguistic controversy as there is a significant population of Kannada as well as Marathi speaking people. To showcase the politics of the same region, Belagavi-based filmmaker Harshad Nalawade is coming up with his first feature film ‘Follower’.
This story is about a social media journalist who puts forward pro-Marathi sentiments. He believes that Belagavi should be a part of Maharashtra. On the other hand, a local leader has started instigating the controversy again. That journalist is inspired by a local instigator. You will have to watch the film to know what happens after that.
Aankhon Dekhi film based on the controversy
Harshad Nalawade has not only written the film but also directed it. He will also be seen acting on screen in a small role. He has seen a glimpse of that controversy with his own eyes in real life. He has grown up seeing many conflicts taking place over territory and language. He has both Marathi and Kannada friends, so he did not have to do much research on it, rather he took help from his life experiences in crafting the story. He was more interested in trying to understand what it is that motivates people to fight for a certain cause. He has tried to find this reason through this film.
