Mumbai, January 23
Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty overcame early losses on Thursday due to buying in IT stocks and gains in Asian markets. BSE’s 30-share Sensex opened on a negative note at 76,202.12, down 202.87 points or 0.26 percent in morning trade.
Similarly, the NSE Nifty also fell by 64.7 points or 0.27 percent to 23,090.65. However, the BSE benchmark soon recouped the losses to trade up 152.54 points or 0.20 per cent at 76,557.53 while the Nifty rose 37.10 points or 0.16 per cent to 23,192.45.
Among the Sensex stocks, Zomato, Ultratech Cement, Tech Mahindra, Mahindra & Mahindra, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Infosys, Tata Motors, Bajaj Finserv and ITC gained. Hindustan Unilever, Nestle India, State Bank of India, Axis Bank, HCL Technologies, Adani Ports and Reliance Industries were the laggards. News-Patiala
