Chandigarh, January 11

The Punjab Revenue Officers Association has announced a strike from January 14 against the policies of the government and the case registered against President Sukhcharan Singh Channi and has demanded an investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, all the work related to registries and other land records in Punjab will be stopped. Channi, the president of the association, while talking to reporters at the Chandigarh Press Club with his colleagues, said that the delegation of the association talked to the ministers of the Punjab government several times but the state government did not resolve their issues. He said that instead of accepting the demands of the association, the state government is trying to suppress them by filing cases against their members.

It may be mentioned that on November 27, Vigilance Bureau Barnala claimed to have arrested Punjab Revenue Officers Association President Sukhcharan Singh Channi red-handed for allegedly taking bribe. In this regard, all the revenue officers of the state protested by taking collective leave on 28 and 29 November. The association leaders have demanded cancellation of the case filed against Sukhcharan Singh Channi.
