Patna, January 6
Jan Swaraj Party founder Prashant Kishore has been released from jail on Monday evening. However, earlier the teenager was sent to judicial custody after refusing to grant bail. Kishore had termed the bail conditions as unreasonable. However, it was not immediately known whether Kishore accepted the bail conditions imposed by the court or whether the court has made any amendment in its orders.
Senior advocate YV Giri, associated with Kishore’s party, had earlier said that the conditions imposed for Kishore’s bail were unreasonable. He said that the teenager was made to submit a written affidavit, which is tantamount to ‘confession of guilt’.
Patna SSP Avkash Kumar said, “The court granted bail to Kishore late in the evening. He has been released from Buro Central Jail.” Earlier, Kishore was arrested for his illegal fast. The former election strategist was sent to jail after Kishore challenged the bail conditions. It should be remembered that Kishore had started a hunger strike at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan last week demanding the cancellation of the Bihar Public Service Commission examination. The police had registered a case against the teenager citing the orders of the Patna High Court declaring the fast to death illegal. -News-Patiala
