Expensive social media post had to be posted, FIR filed against page admin

In the age of social media, today everyone is running a social media page. But sharing a post without any header or proper information can cost you dearly.

An FIR has been registered against the admin of a related social media page for allegedly defaming several individuals by sharing “false and malicious” content about their lives. Disclosing the information, the police spokesperson of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir said that action was initiated against the administrator of the “Bhadrwah Confession Page” Instagram account after several complaints from the victims.

The complaint alleged that Page used his name to spread false stories, causing significant damage to his personal life.

Officials said that an FIR was registered against the accused in the Bhadarwah police station under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. He said that the police is actively investigating the matter to identify and arrest the culprits involved in defamation, intimidation and public mischief.

The spokesman said that no one found involved in such activities would be spared. He appealed to the people to refrain from following such pages which tend to create controversy and damage the reputation of individuals. News-Patiala
