Dhaka, 12 January
The Ministry of External Affairs of Bangladesh has today summoned the High Commissioner of India Pranay Verma regarding the border tension. Verma has been summoned after Dhaka claimed that India is erecting fences at five points along the border with Bangladesh, in violation of bilateral agreements. Verma was seen entering the ministry at around three in the evening. His meeting with Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin lasted for about half an hour. Bangladesh’s interim government has not released an official statement on the discussions at the meeting, but officials have confirmed that Verma has been summoned. -News-Patiala
