Australia News: Australia has started taking measures to stop the exploitation of workers. The new law for employers paying less than a certain threshold has been implemented since January 1. Now neglecting to underpay or deprive an employee of rights will be a punishable offence.

It is noteworthy that many businessmen used to exploit the workers by giving them low wages. Among the victims of economic robbery, especially students from other countries including India, migrant workers with raw visas are more. Many businessmen use them as cheap labour.

Ms. Anna Booth, head of the Fair Work Ombudsman for Australian workplaces and labor laws, said that those found guilty could be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years in prison and fined up to 1.65 million dollars by the court.

The victim, Mrs. Harjinder Kaur, complained to Fair Work that she worked at a grocery store. He was not paid salary as per rules. She was working in a semi-urban area under visa category 187. He was also threatened with deportation by the businessman. But due to lack of proper law, the businessman escaped from strict action.
