A tipper driver was killed while two others were injured in a road accident on the railway flyover on Rupnagar Road here. The police have registered a case and started the action.
According to the information, this accident took place at around three o’clock in the morning today on the railway flyover on Rupnagar road when an 18 tire horse (truck trailer) full of wood coming from Rupnagar collided with a tipper coming from the other side. The collision was so violent that the front parts of both the vehicles were badly damaged. During this accident, the tipper driver died on the spot while tipper cleaner Rajesh Kumar resident of Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) and horse driver Umesh Kumar were injured. The deceased has been identified as Nanhe Kumar who was involved in the accident when the tipper going from Kurali was coming down from the railway flyover while the truck-trailer was boarding the flyover. During the accident, the deceased tipper driver was badly trapped and could be pulled out after several hours with the help of a crane.
Two youths killed, 10 injured in road accident
Fatehgarh Sahib (Dr. Himansu Sood): A tractor-trolley carrying Shahidi Sabha collided with a truck last night, killing two youths and injuring ten others. The accident took place between Khanna and Mandi Gobindgarh on the national highway. The deceased have been identified as Avtar Singh alias Taru (32) and Surinder Singh (15) residents of Bhagwanpura near Khemkaran district Amritsar. The injured were admitted to a private hospital. The police said that they have taken possession of the trolley and registered a case against the driver. On the other hand, Mahal Singh, the grandfather of the deceased Surinder Singh, said that he had come to Fatehgarh Sahib to pay obeisance and at night he received a call at home that a tractor-trolley had met with an accident on the way. When he reached here, he found out that his grandson and a neighbor died The injured were taken to a private hospital in Ludhiana from where they were later shifted to Amritsar.
Two killed, two injured in an accident in Anandpur Sahib
Sri Anandpur Sahib (BS Chana): After paying obeisance at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib near Mata Nanki Hospital, the youth who were returning to Ludhiana on a motorcycle was hit by a vehicle from behind, in which the youth died, while two others were injured. The incident took place around 7:30 in the morning. The deceased has been identified as Deepak Kumar. Outpost in-charge SI Jasmer Singh said that the body has been handed over to the heirs for post-mortem.
Panchkula (PP Verma): Driver killed in head-on collision between two trucks on Surajpur-Sukhomajri bypass. The accident was so terrible that a truck overturned after the collision and the driver was trapped in it. People took the driver out of the truck and took him to the hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead. The deceased has been identified as Awadhesh resident of Jaunpur (Uttar Pradesh).
