> Jaisalmer, 29 December
In Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district, during the excavation for a tubewell, the ground collapsed, due to which the borewell machine also fell into the pit and water started coming out of the ground.
An official said here today that due to gas and mud also coming out with the water, the workers digging the tubewell and the villagers panicked. The official said that due to the pressure of the water, a big hole was formed on the spot, in which the borewell machine fell. He said that on the information of the villagers, police, administration and water supply department officials reached the spot.
Mohangarh sub-tehsildar Lalit Charan said that the incident took place on Saturday while digging for a tubewell in Vikram Singh’s field near Three Zora Miners of Chak 27 BD. He said that after digging about 850 feet suddenly water started coming out with high pressure and the water started flowing up to four feet above the ground.
He said that due to water pressure, a big hole was formed on the spot. Lalit Charan said that ONGC officials took stock of the spot and described the gas coming out of the borewell as normal. He said that this gas is neither poisonous nor flammable, so there is no need to panic. He said that now the administration has contacted the team of Keiran Energy (Vedanta) based in Barmer and two members of the team have reached the spot. He said that efforts are being made to stop the flow of water. -News-Patiala
