The Panchayati Raj Pensioners Union today held a meeting at the head office of the Panchayat Department in Mohali, Phase Eight, Vikas Bhavan, Mohali, and protested against not giving the benefits of the Sixth Pay Commission to the entire pensioners of the Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishads.
He said that the officials of the Panchayat Department are treating the Panchayati Raj pensioners like a stepmother, which will not be tolerated. The union warned that if their demands are not accepted, then a state-level dharna will be held on January 21 at the department’s head office in Mohali. Union Senior Vice President Kulwant Kaur Bath, General Secretary Gurmeet Singh Bhankharpur, Secretary Jagir Singh Dhillon besides Dayal Singh, Mahinder Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Harbans Singh, Gurmail Singh, Balwinder Singh, Joginder Singh, Pawan Kumar, Ram Charan, Sarvjit Singh , Rabbi Singh, Darshan Singh, Harjit Singh etc. said that Panchayati Raj pensioners were given the benefit of Sixth Pay Commission two and a half years later than other pensioners. He said that even now hundreds of pensioners are waiting for this benefit. He said that the dues of three years from July 2021 till now have not been paid. He also demanded the intervention of Punjab Chief Minister and Panchayat Minister in the whole matter.
