OP Chautala Passes Away: Baba Bohar of Haryana politics and supremo of Indian National Lok Dal and five-time Chief Minister of Haryana Om Prakash Chautala passed away on Friday morning. His age was 89 years. According to information, he breathed his last at his home in Gurugram.
It may be mentioned that Chautala was born on 1 January 1935 and he was the son of Chaudhary Devi Lal, the 6th Deputy Prime Minister of the country. His political journey proved to be a milestone in Haryana politics. It may be mentioned that Chautala was the Chief Minister for the first time from 2 December 1989 to 22 May 1990. He was part of the national level NDA and the Third Front.
Chautala’s name came up in the education recruitment scam in 2000 for which he was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2013. He remained there as the oldest prisoner in Tihar Jail. Later Chautala was released from jail in 2021 due to Covid.
