Voters who went out to vote for the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation elections on Saturday faced difficulties in locating their polling booths. Voters said they were told that their booths have been changed due to delimitation of wards and now they have to go to the adjacent booths to cast their votes. Due to this, the pace of polling was very slow and only about 5 percent votes were cast in the first two hours.

State Public Schools Group President Dr. Narottam Singh said, “My wife and I went to Guru Amardas School, Model Town this morning, where we were told by the polling officers that we do not have our votes at this polling booth. We cast our vote in the polling booth of this school in the Lok Sabha elections held in June this year. When we asked them to help us locate our booths, they asked us to inquire at two polling booths nearby. said We can’t do much running and that’s why we came back without voting.” Polling stations have become even more inconvenient as wards and booths have been reconfigured and more booths have been added due to the hasty elections. Level officers are not going door to door giving slips to voters.

Aam Aadmi Party Ward No. Aruna Arora, a former councilor from 33, said, “Voters have faced some problem in tracking their votes. For the last two days, we have tried to help them by sending voter slips with their new voter numbers, ward numbers and booth locations. Congress candidate Pawan Kumar said, “Apart from vote tracking, we have faced the problem of double vote registration in two different wards. As candidates, we also faced hardship as we were wrongly campaigned in 50 other houses in our adjoining wards.
