During the encounter with the police here, a member of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang was injured, from whom weapons were recovered. Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said that Vivek Mattu alias Badal resident of Patti Bari Jandiala was attacked by gangster Manjit Singh and Amandeep Singh. He said that the two gangsters of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang fired at Vivek, due to which he was injured. The police arrested him after registering a case under the Arms Act. After this, another accused Devinderpal Singh was also arrested. He said that on the information given by Manjit Singh and Amandeep Singh, pistol and ammunition were recovered. These gangsters were involved in murder, threats, extortion and many other criminal activities.
Manjit Singh had revealed the presence of weapons near the petrol pump and the adjacent vacant plot. When the police party took them to the spot, he opened fire on the police party with hidden weapons. After this, the police also retaliated and the accused was injured. He said that the matter is being investigated and details will be shared later. Swapan Sharma said that under the campaign against organized crime, the Commissionerate Police has so far arrested 15 gangsters with 17 weapons and 74 rounds.
Drug trafficker killed in police encounter
Tarn Taran (Gurbakhashpuri): A drug smuggler, who has been identified as Lovekaran Singh alias Manga resident of Bakipur, was injured in an encounter with the police here, who has been admitted to the Civil Hospital of Tarn Taran. DSP Kamalmeet Singh said that the police party under the leadership of ASI Gurdeep Singh of the local police station City was patrolling the area last night. Meanwhile, when the suspect in the car was stopped, he opened fire on the police party. The DSP said that one bullet passed near the turban of ASI Gurdeep Singh and the second bullet was fired in the air. After this, the police retaliated, during which a bullet hit the leg of the drug trafficker and the trafficker was arrested. Several cases related to drugs have been registered against Lovekaran Singh.
