New Delhi, December 16
Various social activists and former officials have filed a petition in the Supreme Court (Supreme Court of India) on Monday and demanded to stop the ‘Religion Parliament’ to be held from December 17 to 21 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The petitioners urged the court to hear the matter soon.
The bench of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna (CJI Sanjiv Khanna) and Justice Sanjay Kumar (Justice Sanjay Kumar) has asked the lawyer Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the petitioners, to send an e-mail in this regard to get the petition listed immediately. The Chief Justice said, “I will consider. Please send an e-mail.”
Demanding immediate listing, Bhushan said that an open invitation to ‘genocide of Muslims’ has been given under this Parliament and therefore the petition needs to be heard urgently as the ‘Parliament of Religion’ is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Tuesday. This ‘Parliament of Dharma’ is being organized by the Yati Narsinghanand Foundation from Tuesday to Saturday at the Shiva-Shakti Temple Complex in Dasna, Ghaziabad. Earlier, a similar ‘Parliament of Religion’ held in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar was embroiled in controversy due to alleged hate speech. A criminal case was initiated against Yati Narasinhanand and several other persons in this connection.
Activists and former bureaucrats have filed a defamation petition against the Ghaziabad district administration and the Uttar Pradesh Police for “willful and willful violation” of the Supreme Court’s order, which ordered all competent and appropriate officials to prevent communal activities and hate speech. Directed action against individuals or groups involved in the speeches.
The petitioners include social activist Aruna Roy, retired IAS officer Ashok Kumar Sharma, former IFS officers Dev Mukherjee and Navrekha Sharma and others. -News-Patiala
