CDS General Rawat’s death: The committee said the cause of the helicopter accident was ‘human error’

In its report, the parliamentary committee formed to investigate the death of the country’s first Chief of Defense (CDS) General Bipin Rawat has attributed the Mi-17 V5 helicopter crash on 8 December 2021 to ‘human error’. General Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and several other armed forces personnel were killed when their military helicopter crashed near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu. In a report tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, the Standing Committee on Defense shared data on the number of accidents involving Indian Air Force aircraft during the 13th Defense Plan period. During this period, a total of 34 accidents took place, including nine aircraft accidents of the Indian Air Force in 2021-22 and 11 aircraft accidents in 2018-19. In the ’cause’ heading of the report, the cause of the accidents is described as ‘human error’. -News-Patiala
