An Afghan staffer working in the Indian consulate in Jalalabad was injured in the attack

An Afghan citizen working at the Indian consulate in Jalalabad was injured in the attack. People familiar with the whole matter said that unknown persons opened fire on the vehicle of the Afghan citizen. India closed the consulate in Jalalabad about three-and-a-half years ago, but some local staff members were still working at the mission. New Delhi is in touch with the Afghan authorities regarding this incident. So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack. The injured Afghan national has been identified as Wadood Khan and was working as a translator in the Indian mission. Khan left Afghanistan and went to India after the Taliban came to power. Khan had returned only a few months ago and resumed work in the mission. -News-Patiala
