Royal Enfield Unveils All-New Himalayan Adventure Motorcycle

New Delhi: Royal Enfield has launched the all-new Himalayan in India at a starting price of ₹ 2.69 lakh (introductory price). The motorcycle is available in three variants – Base, Pass and Peak – and is priced at ₹ 2.74 lakh and ₹ 2.79 lakh for the Pass and Peak variants, respectively.

New Engine, New Chassis

The new Himalayan is powered by a new 450cc single-cylinder engine called the Sherpa 450. The engine is liquid-cooled and has Dual Overhead Cams (DOHC). It produces 40 PS of peak power and 40 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.

The motorcycle is built on a new chassis that is lighter and stiffer than the previous model. The suspension has also been updated, with Showa upside-down front forks and a monoshock at the rear. The ground clearance has been increased to 230 mm.

New Features

The new Himalayan comes with a number of new features, including:

  • Ride-by-wire throttle
  • Two riding modes – Performance and Economy
  • ABS with the option to turn off rear-wheel ABS
  • Tubeless tyres (option to switch to spoked rims later)
  • Larger rear tyre (140 mm vs 120 mm)
  • CEAT dual sport tyres
  • 200 mm front suspension travel
  • 200 mm rear suspension travel
  • 230 mm ground clearance

Availability

The new Himalayan is available in three colours – Kaza Brown (Base variant), Slate Himalayan Salt and Slate Himalayan Blue (Pass variant), and Kamet White and Hanle Black (Peak variant). The motorcycle is available at Royal Enfield dealerships across India.
