Patiala Leads Punjab in Paddy Lifting with Over 2 Lakh MT Lifted from Grain Markets

Patiala, October 24: Patiala district has emerged as the leader in paddy lifting in Punjab, with over 2,00,677 metric tonne (MT) of harvested paddy crop lifted from the district’s grain markets. This is the highest amount of paddy lifted in the state so far, according to administrative officials.

The district administration has been making great efforts to lift the farmers’ produce from the grain markets in a timely manner. Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney said that the administration is lifting paddy from 109 grain markets and has recorded an average of 45 MT of lifted paddy grain per market. This is the highest average lifting rate in the state.

The procurement agencies have lifted 2,00,677 MT of paddy across the grain markets so far, including 93,607 MT by PUNGRAIN, 41,114 MT by Markfed, 43,633 MT by PUNSUP, and 22,323 MT by Punjab Warehouse Corporation.

The timely lifting of paddy is essential to ensure that farmers get a fair price for their produce and to avoid any inconvenience to them. The Patiala district administration is setting a commendable example for other districts in the state by leading the way in paddy lifting.
