Patiala, October 21
Patiala district is facing a surge in dengue cases, with 31 new cases reported on October 21st, pushing the season’s total to 593. This is higher than the 550 cases reported at the same time last year, and is attributed to the early onset of the dengue season due to recurrent rains in the summers.
The highest number of cases this season have been reported in the areas of Guru Nanak Nagar, Mathura colony, Bishan Nagar, New Officers colony, Sular, and Ajit Nagar in the city (8 each).
District health officials are urging people to remain vigilant and take precautions against dengue. Dr. Sumeet Singh said, “People should take precautions to avoid mosquito bites, such as wearing full sleeves and pants, using mosquito repellents, and covering water storage containers. If you experience any symptoms of dengue, such as fever, headache, body aches, or rash, please consult a doctor immediately.”
