Govt increases LPG subsidy for Ujjwala beneficiaries to Rs 300 per cylinder

New Delhi, October 4, 2023: The central government has increased the subsidy on LPG cylinders for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries from Rs 200 to Rs 300 per cylinder, effective immediately. This means that PMUY beneficiaries will now get LPG cylinders for Rs 100 cheaper.

The announcement was made by Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday. He said that the decision was taken to provide relief to the poor and marginalized sections of society during the festive season.

The increase in subsidy will benefit over 9.6 crore PMUY beneficiaries across the country. Under the PMUY scheme, the government provides free LPG connections to below-poverty-line (BPL) households.
