Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrests Sevadar for taking bribe

News Patiala:- The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (Vigilance) today arrested Gagandeep Singh, a servant posted at Patwarkhana Tehsil Office, Malerkotla District, Ahmedgarh, for taking a bribe of Rs.10,000 from Balwinder Singh, resident of Bazigar Basti, Dhuri (Sangrur).

The Vigilance received a complaint from Balwinder Singh that Sevadar Gagandeep Singh had demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 from him in exchange for providing the fard of the land located at village Dasaunda Singh Wala. The complainant alleged that the accused employee had already taken a bribe of Rs 15000 from him on August 8, 2023 and was now demanding more bribe.

The Vigilance team investigated the complaint and set a trap. The accused servant was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of government witnesses.

A case has been registered against Gagandeep Singh at Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Patiala Range. Further investigation is underway.
