New Cargo Complex at Chandigarh Airport Now Operational

Chandigarh, July 29, 2023 — A new integrated cargo complex with a total area of 2,400 square meters and five sheds has become operational at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Chandigarh.

The complex is equipped with all the latest equipment, including a cold room, reefer van, fork lift, scissor lift, pallets, user-friendly weighing scales, and trolleys. It is also equipped with high-security equipment, such as CCTV, DFMD, ETD, and X-ray machines.

The cargo complex will initially handle only domestic cargo. International cargo handling will begin after clearance from customs.

Chandigarh International Airport is the only airport in North India after Delhi with a 2,500 MT cargo facility. The provisional overall cost of the project is Rs.12.45 crores.

The new cargo complex is expected to boost the economic activity in the region and create new jobs. It will also help to facilitate the export of goods from the region to other parts of the country and the world.
