News Patiala: There is a false stigma when the moon is sighted on Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi. This means that if the moon rises on Chaturthi Tithi and remains present till Panchami Tithi. That means the moon rises on Panchami Tithi. So seeing or having the moon on Siddhivinayak fast is not harmful. If Chaturthi extends from the evening on the first day. If Moon is in Tritiya till Chaturthi Tithi. So the moon will appear on the first day. Even if there is no Siddhavinayak on that day. The conclusion is that the darshan of the moon in Chaturthi itself is defective. Siddhavinayak fast has nothing to do with it. which is the approved medium.
But disregarding this above rule, according to folk opinion, people in Maharashtra and Gujarat prohibit sighting of the moon on the day of Siddhivinayak fast. If there is a moon on the evening of Panchami Tithi on that day. That means the moon is sighted till Panchami Tithi. They do not follow the rule of Chandradarshan. Whether there is Chaturthi in Udakala or Darshan Kala not. While in North India, in Punjab, Himachal, Jammu, Haryana, etc., the fourth date is considered to be due to a moon sighting.
This year Samvat 2079 Siddhivinayak Vrat Madhyahavayapini Chaturthi is on August 31, Wednesday. But the Chaturthi date is August 30, Tuesday afternoon 15-34. It is starting from this day. 20 hours – 45 minutes during Chaturthi night only. But the moon will come. While on 31st August the Chaturthi date is only 15.23 hrs. But in some states like Maharashtra, on August 31, Wednesday, we will consider banning Chandradarshan. Kalank-Chaturthi, Pathar-Chautha, etc. will be celebrated on this day.

(14) कलंक-चतुर्थी (चन्द्रदर्शन निषेध) (30 या 31 अगस्त)
भाद्रपद शुक्ल चतुर्थी के दिन चन्द्रदर्शन होने पर मिथ्या कलंक लगता है। इसका अभिप्राय यह है कि यदि चतुर्थी तिथि में चन्द्र-उदय होकर पंचमी तिथि तक वर्तमान हो अर्थात् चन्द्र-अस्त पंचमी तिथि में हो, तो सिद्धिविनायक व्रत के दिन चन्द्रदर्शन करना या होना दोषकारक नहीं होता तथा यदि पहिले दिन सायंकाल से चतुर्थी की व्याप्ति हो जाए अर्थात् तृतीया में चन्द्रोदय होकर चतुर्थी तिथि व्याप्ति तक चन्द्रदर्शन हो (चन्द्र-अस्त चतुर्थी तिथि में हो), तो चन्द्रदर्शन का दोष पहिले दिन होगा, चाहे उस दिन सिद्धिविनायक न भी हो। निष्कर्ष यह है कि चतुर्थी में ही चन्द्रदर्शन का दोष है। सिद्धिविनायक व्रत का इससे सम्बन्ध नहीं है जोकि मध्याह्न-व्यापिनी ग्राह्य होता है।
चतुर्थ्यामुदितस्य पंचम्यां दर्शनं विनायकव्रत दिनेपि न दोषाय पूर्वदिने | सायाह्नमारम्य प्रवृत्तायां चतुर्थ्यां विनायकव्रताभावेपि पूर्वेद्युरेव चंद्रदर्शने दोष | इति सिध्यति । • इदानीं लोकास्त्वेकतरपक्षाश्रयेण विनायक व्रतदिने एवं चंद्रं न पश्चयन्ति न तदयकाले दर्शनकाले वा चतुर्थीसत्त्वासत्त्वे नियमेनाश्रयन्ति ॥
परन्तु इस उपरोक्त नियम की उपेक्षा करते हुए लोकमतानुसार महाराष्ट्र, गुजरातादि में लोग सिद्धिविनायक व्रत वाले दिन ही चन्द्रदर्शन का निषेध मानते हैं। चाहे उस दिन सायंकाल पंचमी तिथि व्यप्ति में ही चन्द्रास्त हो अर्थात् पंचमी तिथि तक चन्द्रदर्शन हो रहे हों। वे उदयकाल या दर्शनकाल में चतुर्थी होने या न होने पर चन्द्रदर्शन के नियम को नहीं मानते। जबकि पंजाब, हिमाचल, जम्मू, हरियाणादि उत्तरी भारत में चतुर्थी तिथि व्यापिनी में ही चन्द्रदर्शन का दोष मानते हैं।
इस वर्ष (वि. संवत् 2079) सिद्धिविनायक व्रत मध्याह्वव्यापिनी चतुर्थी 31 अगस्त, बुधवार को है। परन्तु चतुर्थी तिथि 30 अगस्त, मंगलवार को दोपहर बाद 15षं-34मिं. से प्रारम्भ हो रही है तथा इसदिन चतुर्थी के समय ही रात्रि 20घं– 45 मिं. पर चन्द्रास्त होगा। जबकि 31 अगस्त को चतुर्थी तिथि दोपहर 15घं.- 23मिं तक ही है तथा इस दिन चन्द्रास्त 21.-15 मिं. पर होगा। जब पंचमी तिथि व्याप्त होगी। इस प्रकार उत्तरी भारत में, तो लोग शास्त्रनिर्देशानुसार 30 अगस्त, मंगलवार को ही चन्द्रदर्शन का निषेध मानेंगे। परन्तु महाराष्ट्र आदि कुछ राज्यों में 31 अगस्त, बुधवार को चन्द्रदर्शन निषेध का विचार करेंगे तथा कलंक-चतुर्थी, पत्थर-चौथ आदि इसी दिन मनाई जाएगी।
