Sensex crashes, the stock market fell 1235 points and reached a seven-month low


Mumbai, January 21

The 30-share index of the Bombay Stock Exchange today fell to a seven-month low of 1,235.08 points after Donald Trump announced higher taxes on neighboring countries as soon as he was sworn in as the US president. The Sensex lost 1,431.57 points to 75,641.87 during the day, but then closed down 1.60 percent at 75,838.36. The shares of ICICI Bank and Reliance Industries took a big hit. On the other hand, NSE’s Nifty fell 367.9 points to close at 22,976.85. Among the Sensex shares, losses included Zomato, NTPC, Adani Ports, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Reliance Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Tech Mahindra and Axis Bank. Shares of Ultratech Seaming and HCL Technologies remained in profit. -News-Patiala
