This decision has been taken only after extensive discussions between the Education and Health Ministries. A senior National Testing Agency (NTA) official said today, “As per the decision taken by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the NEET-UG exam will be conducted in pen and paper mode (OMR based) on a single day and in shifts.” NTA conducts NEET exam every year for admissions in medical colleges. A total of 1.08 lakh seats are available for MBBS courses. Out of these, 56000 seats are in government hospitals and about 52000 in private colleges. Admissions to undergraduate courses in Dentistry, Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha are also based on NEET results. -News-Patiala
