The government has started the process to mark the place for the memorial of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The government is in touch with Singh’s family to finalize a suitable location. Sources said that the CPWD officials visited Sanjay Gandhi’s memorial at Rashtriya Smriti Sthal and identified some places where the memorial could be built. Sources said that the government is in touch with the family of the former prime minister and three to four options have been discussed for the place of the memorial. Unj sources said that no site has been finalized yet and the next step will be taken only after consulting Singh’s family. The central government will set up the trust before allotting the selected site for the memorial. Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26 at the age of 92. The Congress had criticized the central government for performing his last rites at Nigambodh Ghat. Since then, a war of words has been going on between the BJP and the Congress over the establishment of Singh’s memorial. -News-Patiala
