Boat capsize: One dead, 20 rescued after boat capsize near Goa’s Calangute beach

One person died today when a boat carrying tourists capsized in the Arabian Sea off the Calangute coast of North Goa. 20 others on the boat were rescued. The police gave this information. The police said that the incident took place around 1.30 pm.

“A 54-year-old man died when the boat overturned, while 20 others were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment,” a senior police officer said. Was wearing life jackets. Among the passengers were women with a six-month-old baby. A spokesman for Drishti Marine, a life-saving agency appointed by the government, said that the boat overturned about 60 meters from the coast and all the passengers on board fell into the sea.

He said that 13 people from a family from Kher in Maharashtra were also on board the boat. Seeing the overturning of the boat, an employee of Drishti Marine immediately took steps to help.

He said, “A total of 18 lifeguards came to the rescue of the passengers and brought them to the safe shore.” The interpreter said that the injured passengers were given first aid while the seriously injured were taken to the health center by ambulances.
