Punjab’s sixth pay scale for non-teaching staff of colleges implemented

The Higher Education Department of UT has implemented the Sixth Pay Commission of Punjab for non-staff members and retired employees in private colleges of Chandigarh. This will benefit nearly 500 employees of seven government-aided private colleges in Chandigarh. The Chandigarh administration has decided that the arrears of this pay commission will also be given from July this year. In this regard, the finance department of UT has got it right and therefore the administration will also release 1.17 crore rupees soon. According to the information, the Higher Education Department of UT has issued a grant in aid in this regard. Under this, relief will be given to 167 employees of Group A, B, C and D working in these colleges who were getting salary as per the rules of the Punjab government. A senior official of the higher education department said that in this regard, the Punjab government had made recommendations regarding the revised pay scale, after which the Chandigarh administration has also implemented this decision. These employees will be given the increased salary as per the new scale in the salary of December month and Rs 1.17 crore will be released soon for the amount of arrears. Senator Dr. Inderpal Singh Sidhu has welcomed this decision.
