The Supreme Court of India has transferred 16 judges to various high courts across the country. The transfers were announced on October 18, 2023, and will take effect on November 1, 2023.
The judges who have been transferred are:
- Justice S.P. Kesarwani from the Allahabad High Court to the Calcutta High Court
- Justice Raj Mohan Singh from the Punjab and Haryana High Court to the Madhya Pradesh High Court
- Justice Narendar G from the Karnataka High Court to the Andhra Pradesh High Court
- Justice Sudhir Singh from the Patna High Court to the Punjab and Haryana High Court
- Justice M.V. Muralidaran from the Manipur High Court to the Calcutta High Court
- Justice Madhuresh Prasad from the Patna High Court to the Calcutta High Court
- Justice Arvind Singh Sangwan from the Punjab and Haryana High Court to the Allahabad High Court
- Justice Avneesh Jhingan from the Punjab and Haryana High Court to the Rajasthan High Court
- Justice Arun Monga from the Punjab and Haryana High Court to the Rajasthan High Court
- Justice Rajendra Kumar-IV from the Allahabad High Court to the Madhya Pradesh High Court
- Justice Nani Tagia from the Gauhati High Court to the Patna High Court
- Justice C. Manavendranath Roy from the Andhra Pradesh High Court to the Gujarat High Court
- Justice Munnuri Laxman from the Telangana High Court to the Rajasthan High Court
- Justice G. Anupama Chakravarthy from the Telangana High Court to the Patna High Court
- Justice Lapita Banerji, Additional Judge from the Calcutta High Court to the Punjab and Haryana High Court
- Justice Duppala Venkata Ramana, Additional Judge from the Andhra Pradesh High Court to the Madhya Pradesh High Court
The transfers have been made in consultation with the chief justices of the respective high courts. The Supreme Court has expressed its gratitude to the judges for their services to their respective high courts, and has wished them all the best in their new assignments.
