News Patiala, September 20, 2023: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Tuesday arrested Ajay Kumar, Junior Engineer (JE) Municipal Council, Nabha, District Patiala. He red-handed for taking a bribe of Rs. 50,000. The arrest was made as part of the anti-corruption campaign in the state.
According to a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau, the accused was arrested on the complaint of Jagdeep Singh, a resident of Nabha city. Singh had alleged that Kumar was demanding a bribe of Rs. 50,000 to forward the CLU (change of land use) file of his shop in Nabha city.
The spokesperson said that after a preliminary investigation of the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau laid a trap. Arrested Kumar in the presence of two government witnesses while accepting the bribe from Singh. A case under the Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Patiala Range and further investigation is underway.
