The Punjab government has announced that the office hours for all state government offices in Chandigarh will be changing from July 17, 2023. The new hours will be from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
This change is being made in order to save energy during the peak summer months. The government estimates that the new hours will save approximately ₹42 crore in electricity costs.
The new office hours will apply to all state government offices in Chandigarh, including the civil secretariat, the assembly complex, and all district and sub-divisional offices.
The government is also encouraging employees to carpool or use public transportation to get to work.
