News Patiala, Punjab (July 10, 2023): In a message to residents affected by the recent flooding in Patiala, District Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney assured that rescue efforts are underway and that everyone will be evacuated safely.
Sawhney urged residents to stay on the first floor of their homes and to avoid going to the ground floor, which is at risk of flooding. She also said that dinner packets are being delivered to those who have been evacuated from their homes.
Rescue efforts are being carried out by the Army, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and the Punjab Police. Boats and trollies are being used to evacuate residents, depending on the approach.
Sawhney said that priority will be given to those with medical issues, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and those with small children. She assured residents that everyone will be evacuated safely.
