Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a three-day holiday for Holi. March 2, 3 and 4 will be public holidays as per the order of the UP government. March 1 is a Sunday, so there will be four consecutive days of holidays.
According to the UP government’s academic calendar, holidays have already been scheduled for March 1 (Sunday), March 2 (Monday – Holika Dahan), and March 4 (Wednesday – Holi). Now, there will be a holiday on March 3 (Tuesday) for Holi as well.
Bihar usually has two days off for Holi. Schools are likely to remain closed on March 3 and 4. However, some schools may declare a holiday on March 2 as well.
Most of the private schools in Delhi-NCR have declared a holiday on March 3 and 4. However, exams are going on in schools in Noida, due to which there will be holidays from Monday to Wednesday.
Schools will remain closed for Holi in Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab. Most schools will be closed from Monday to Wednesday, although some schools will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Haryana and Punjab have also declared a gazetted holiday on March 4.
It is to be noted that Holi will be celebrated on March 3-4 in many states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Jammu and Kashmir. This means that schools will remain closed in these states on this day.
