According to the BC Royal Canadian Mounted Police, police received a report of a gunman at Tumbler Ridge School on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. By the time they arrived at the scene, several students from grades 7 to 12 had been shot, some of whom had died.
The Peace River South School District said both the secondary school and Tumbler Ridge Elementary School were placed on lockdown and secured. Peace River South MLA Larry Newfield told reporters in the legislature that an overwhelming amount of resources have been dispatched to the community, including RCMP and ambulance support.
