Indian Army Agniveer Recruitment: Good news has come this morning for the candidates who are preparing to join the Indian Army. The Indian Army is short of about 1.8 lakh soldiers. To meet this shortfall, the Indian Army is considering increasing the number of vacancies for Agniveer recruitment from the current 45,000-50,000 to over 100,000 annually.
During the two years of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the Army halted recruitment, while 60,000-65,000 soldiers retired each year. This was before the launch of Agneepath Yojana in 2022, when recruitment was done in the usual way.
When the Agnipath Yojana was launched on June 14, 2022, a total of around 46,000 vacancies were available for recruitment in the Army, Navy and Indian Air Force that year. Of these, 40,000 posts were for the Army and the rest for the Navy and Air Force.
