Under GPSP 2.0, e-passports will now be issued to Indians. These passports will have an embedded chip storing the holder’s digital information. The new system will have an auto-fill option. Those seeking passport renewal will simply enter their old passport number, and the system will automatically fill in the rest of the information. The entire process will be completed in about two minutes.

Facility to upload documents online…
Applicants will now be able to upload their photographs, signatures and documents directly on the Passport Seva Portal (PSP). Photographs must be in accordance with ICAO standards. This will reduce congestion and waiting time at the BLS International Centre.

Errors will be corrected without additional fees…
With GPSP 2.0, small errors in the application will eliminate the need to re-fill the form. BLS International will automatically correct the errors, and no additional fees will be charged.

The new passport will have two letters and a number, and will feature a golden RFID symbol on the cover. Old passports will remain valid until their expiry date.
