New Delhi: Actress Vijayashanti is also known as ‘The Lady Superstar’ as well as ‘Lady Amitabh’. Just as Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has a tremendous fan following, in the same way Vijayashanti also made a special place in the hearts of the audience with his strong performance, tremendous action and performance. In the 80s, when women actors in the film world were often considered limited to supporting roles or romantic characters, Vijayashanti proved on the strength of her strong characters that the actress is not just to brighten the story, but she can also work to revive the story.
Acting passion since childhood
Vijayashanti started his career at the age of 14. The passion inside him gave him great successes at an early age. He started his acting journey in 1980 with the Tamil film ‘Kallukool Iram’. In the same year, he also made his Telugu films debut with the film Khiladi Krishna. He did 19 films with actor Chiranjeevi, while acting in 16 films with actor Balakrishna.
Vijayashanti also worked with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth in the film ‘Mannan’ and Kamal Haasan in the film ‘Indradu Chandradu’. Apart from this, she appeared in films including ‘Challenge’, ‘Pasiist Pranam’, ‘Mudula Krishnaiya’, ‘Agni Pavitram’, ‘Yamudiki Mogudu’, ‘Aadhu Yamudu Amayaki Mogudu’, ‘Mudula Mavaya’, ‘Mudula Mavaya’, ‘Kondaviti Donga’, ‘Gang Leader’. He made her Bollywood debut through Anil Kapoor’s film ‘Ishwar’. Also worked in many Hindi films.
Hands tried in politics
Like Amitabh Bachchan, Vijayashanti also used to die in every character of films, whether it is anger, pain or courage. His acting was so impressive that the audience used to join him and felt his every struggle with his heart. This is why she is seen as not just an actress, but an icon. He left his mark in many languages like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, and each time he came out with his own style and passion. Apart from films, Vijayashanti also entered politics. She joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1998. She was made the secretary of the women’s wing of the BJP. In the 1999 general election, she stood from Kudappa Lok Sabha seat, but later withdrew her name. He then formed his own political party ‘Tali Telangana’, which was later included in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Vijayashanti joined the Congress in 2014 and contested the Lok Sabha elections. In 2020, Vijaya resigned from the Congress and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party again.
