US Attack On Venezuela: At least seven loud explosions were heard in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, around 2 am (local time) on Saturday morning. Low-flying aircraft were also seen and their loud noises were heard over the city. According to CBS News, the US attacked President Donald Trump’s orders. The explosions caused panic throughout Caracas. Hearing the sound of explosions, people of many areas came out of their houses. Tanks appeared in the streets. President Nicolás Maduro declared a state of emergency in the country. People from different neighborhoods were seen gathering on the streets. Movement and lights were seen from a distance in some areas, although there has been no official confirmation of casualties or property damage yet.
According to the AP report, at least seven explosions were heard in the capital. Videos on social media show the glow in the sky at the time of the blasts and the panic in the city. However, no official figures on casualties or damage have been released yet.
Did America attack?
Although it is not yet clear whether the explosions in Caracas were caused by a direct military strike, a drill, a technical accident or some other cause, the timing and circumstances are being linked to the US-Venezuela conflict. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has already accused the US of trying to oust him from power and seize the country’s oil and mineral resources. These explosions in the capital seem to be taking this conflict to a more dangerous turn. Right now, the entire country is focused on the official response of the government and the information received from the security agencies in the coming hours.
Why is America being doubted?
The development comes at a time of heightened tensions between Venezuela and the US. In recent days, the US has seized several Venezuelan oil tankers and launched a military operation, exacerbating the situation. The administration led by US President Donald Trump is pursuing a strategy of increasing pressure on the Venezuelan government. The US alleges that the Maduro government is involved in the illegal drug trade, a charge that Venezuela vehemently denies.
America attacked Venezuela last month
Last month, reports surfaced of a US military strike on a drug-launching base inside Venezuela. Trump himself claimed on December 31 that the US military had taken this action in December. He said it happened at a port used by drug traffickers. While the US government has yet to officially confirm this, reports from inside Venezuela seem to support the claim.
