High-speed train collision- 21 people have died and dozens more have been injured in a horrific train accident in Spain. The accident happened on Sunday near Adamuz in the province of Córdoba in the Andalusia region of southern Spain.

According to reports, a speeding train derailed and collided with another speeding train coming from the opposite direction, causing heavy damage. After the accident, rescue operations were started and the injured were admitted to nearby hospitals. All train services between Madrid and Andalusia have been suspended due to the tragic incident.

Spain’s Transport Minister Oscar Puente has confirmed the death toll to be 21. He said that the remaining people have been evacuated during rescue operations. Puente said the death toll could rise. The minister said that the cause of the accident could not be ascertained. He called it a ‘really strange’ incident as the accident happened on a flat section of the track which was repaired in May last year.
