In fact the Indian fast bowler, in a golden chapter of his career, is now on the threshold of becoming the second Indian bowler to take 100 wickets in T20Is. The match against South Africa in Cuttack will not only determine the course of the series but also mark this historic milestone in Bumrah’s career.

Expert bowler Bumrah is once again set to test the African batsmen with his lethal line length. The expectations of the Indian fans, the excitement of the stadium and the great achievement of a great bowler is all set to write a memorable cricket story in Cuttack. Jasprit Bumrah is close to scoring a record century in the first T20 against South Africa. It will not be a century of runs, but a century of wickets. With just one wicket, he will create history and become the first Indian bowler to take at least 100 wickets in all three formats.

32-year-old Jasprit Bumrah has taken 99 wickets in T20 international matches. With just one wicket, he would become the second Indian bowler to take 100 wickets in T20 Internationals; Arshdeep Singh has already reached this milestone. While Arshdeep Singh has taken 100 wickets in T20 Internationals, no other Indian bowler has taken at least 100 wickets in all formats. Bumrah is on the verge of becoming the first bowler to do so. Bumrah has taken 234 wickets in 99 innings of 52 Test matches. He has taken 149 wickets in 89 ODIs. Jasprit Bumrah has previously played three T20 matches against South Africa and has taken three wickets. Bumrah’s highest T20 International wickets are against Australia.

Bumrah’s memorable T20 spells include a devastating spell of 3/7 against Afghanistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup, a match-changing spell against England in Nagpur, conceding just 1 run in the last over, and a thrilling spell of 2/47 against the West Indies in 2016, all of which demonstrate his mastery in the death overs and his ability to remain calm under pressure. Bumrah also holds the record for most maiden bowlings (7) in T20 international cricket.
