TRAI took strict action
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has shown strictness in stopping spam calls. Now TRAI has allowed commercial communication only through registered numbers. If someone makes spam call from an unregistered number, action will be taken against him. Under the rules, TRAI can suspend all the telecom resources of such a caller or even disconnect his connection.
Complain on Sanchar Sathi portal
If you also receive spam or marketing calls from an unregistered number, you can lodge a complaint on the Sanchar Sathi portal. Its method is very easy and your complaint will be registered in just a few steps. First of all go to Sanchar Sathi portal and tap or click on Citizen Centric Services. After this click on ‘Report Suspected and Unsolicited Commercial Communication’. After this a new page will open, where you can lodge a complaint. Choose from different options and submit the form. Keep in mind that to file a complaint you must have a screenshot.
Complain within 7 days
If you want action to be taken against spam callers then you will have to report within 7 days. If you report any spam call or SMS within 7 days of receiving it, action will be taken against the caller or sender of the message. After seven days have passed, no action will be taken against the person filing the complaint. However, the system will help in his identification.
