The next census will start from 1 March 2027

The Union Home Ministry announced that the next census in the two phases would start on March 1, 2027. It will also be included in the caste census, which is being sought by many states and political parties.

According to the ministry, the context for the ice surrounded by Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will be October 1, 2026. Under Section 3 of the Census Act, 1948, the Gazette notification is expected to be issued on June 16, 2025. This is the first census after 2011 since 2011.

The 2021 census was planned to the list of houses from two stages to September 2020 and the population in February 2021. However, despite the completed preposition, it was postponed for indefinitely for time.

Like the 2011 census, the process of 2027 will follow the two-graduated architecture and now it will also include caste census. Many states and political parties are being demanded for a long time. Earlier, the Union Cabinet had decided to raise rache-based census at April 30, April 30.
